Getting to Glasgow by air

There are two airports that serve Glasgow, Glasgow International and Glasgow PrestwickEdinburgh airport is also close enough to fly in to.

Glasgow International Airport (more information)

Glasgow International is the nearest and connected to the city centre by a bus service. The following companies fly into this airport.

Getting from Glasgow International to Glasgow

The bus service, Scottish Citylink Service 905, runs approximately every 10 minutes throughout the day (Monday to Friday) and every 15 minutes (Saturday and Sunday). It takes around 25 minutes to get to the city centre, less at off peak times. You get on the bus from a stance just outside the arrivals hall and the bus drops off at all the major points within the city.  The bus terminates at the Buchanan Bus station  which is just across the road from Glasgow Caledonian University and next door to the Conference Hotel, Langs Hotel.

Prestwick Airport, Glasgow(more information)

This airport is a little further away from the city but is served by an hourly train service. Trains operate every 30 minutes (hourly on a Sunday) to Glasgow Central Station, journey time is 44 minutes. The following airlines fly into this airport: Ryanair.

Edinburgh Airport (more information)

Edinburgh is less than an hour away from Glasgow and connected by frequent rail and bus links. Flights come into Edinburgh from London, other major UK cities and from 40 European airports, including Amsterdam, Paris, Frankfurt and Zurich. Continental Airlines offers a daily direct service from New York's Newark airport, while Delta Airlines offer a daily direct flight between Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and Edinburgh.

The easiest way to get from Edinburgh airport to Glasgow is to get a taxi to Haymarket train station and then take a train to Glasgow Queen Street station. Queen Street station is a 5 minute walk from the University. Alternatively, you can take the Airport Express Shuttle service between the airport and the Waverley Train Station, and then take a train to Glasgow Queen Street station.
